Sticky Friendship

The sticky rice is a type of seeds that looks like rice (which we used to be Indonesian main food/ rice). Physical appearance can usually be distinguished from its colour. Rice looks more transparent while sticky rice has a milky white colour. Sticky rice can live in Asia, including Indonesia. But Indonesian people prefer to plant rice because rice is still considered more basic than the sticky rice, although the price of sticky rice is higher than rice. In addition, sticky rice cultivation is also relatively more difficult.
Sticky rice can be processed into various products, especially food. Indonesia has various types of snacks made from sticky rice. The serving of sticky rice into a sweet food is often chosen by people in Java. For example onde-onde, lemper, klepon, cenil, wajik, and many more. Each region has its own name and characteristics in processing it.
Martani with HMPPI
Sticky rice wajik we choose for one menu of break fasting this time together with HMPPI (Indonesian Food Care Students Association) Regional 3 in Limasan Martani. We chose sticky rice wajik because we hoped that our friendship would be sticky like sticky rice. This time we present sticky rice wajik with different colour, that are purplish blue. The colour is produced from the combination with butterfly pea flower. Addition of the flower don't change the taste of sticky rice, only change the colour becomes more interesting.
The making process of this wajik is not really different from making wajik in general. We just added a few flower buds when boiling sticky rice. Fresh or dried flowers are same, because they wouldn't change the taste of the sticky rice itself. The materials used are sticky rice, coconut milk, sugar, water, butterfly pea flower, and pandanus leaves.
Especially local food
We try to the best in serving food. We always choose good materials directly from farmers to ensure the quality. We got the sticky rice and coconut from local farmer. We chose white sugar in order not to change the colour of wajik, most people know that wajik have brown colour because it is made with brown sugar, but there are also other colours because it is added with food colouring. We use the flowers that we plant in our garden and we are sure the quality is guaranteed. Pandanus leaves are added to make a fragrant aroma.

Let's eat the local food! So you can empowering the farmer.
