From Garden to Table





We have known about the principle of primary and secondary needs since primary school. The primary human needs are food, boards, and clothing. It is repeated by our teacher many times when teaching. Food (then interpreted food and drink) is never separated from humans. But do we really understand the origin of the food we use it? It should be a big concern for us. This time I understand why the food is a staple. Without eating we can’t do anything.






Busy activity often makes us unable to control body needs. Working demands sometimes make us leave breakfast because we have to arrive at the office in the morning, also we need to counting the traffic travel happen, so we must leave even before sunrise. The rest time given by the office is not too long, so we choose fast food to get back to work on time. We also often use the time after work to eat at the restaurant, the reason is because we are already tired if we have to cooking by ourself.




Indeed we must pay close attention to everything that goes into the body, especially food. This is important because it has both short and long-term effects. Often we just realize it if we've ever experienced bad things in our body, such as illness until we need to be treated and sacrifice the time to take off absent.






One of the minimum things is to know what food we consume, what is contained in it, and where the food comes from. Try to asking the seller when buying at a restaurant. The better thing is to produce your own groceries, so you definitely know in detail the good and bad of the material. Having your own garden is very helpful to for you and family. You just need a small garden, the importance is that can produce your food every day, at least vegetables and fruit.











‘From garden to table’ concept is very applicable even for people who have a busy work schedule. We just need to clean and cultivate it once a week. Spend the ultimate holiday time to pay attention for the body through gardening. The bonus we get is 'free recreation'.



A 5x5 m plot of land behind the house (close to the kitchen) is ideal for a family. Various kinds of food can be grown, such as mustard, cabbage, eggplant, carrot, chili, tomato, potato, sweet potato, peanut, lemongrass, onion, butterfly pea flower, mint, sunflower, banana, papaya, and others as we want.




Every morning before work you can pick tomatoes or papaya to eat on the car or when you arrive at the office, because the fruit is really good for health even if eaten when just waking up. Because the stomach is just empty after the metabolism process at night is not ready yet to accept hard food. At night you can take potatoes, carrots, or sweet potato to just roast, it will not take much effort because you are tired after work. Pick also butterfly pea flower then brewed with hot water, drink before bed so you will feel fit when wake up tomorrow morning. That flowers have a content that can make you relax, because after working your muscles are too tense then you are not too comfortable and get difficult to sleep. You can choose the menu which you want and what the garden provides.









If you have more wide land, then make a pond to cultivate the fish. You can have chicken/ duck/ rabbit if you have a distance of 10 meters from house. You can harvest it whenever you want, especially during holidays.











Let's try to apply 'From garden to table' concept. If you manage to control everything that goes into your body then you will move freely without fear of sickness. I’m sure you want to live longer with the people who you love about, then healthy living with local food (coming from the closest place to home) and organic is a must.
